I recently (in the past 6 weeks) saw an article either in the Wall
Street Journal? or other tech journal for an earpiece costing about
$150 or more that cell phone users use in the stock market pits with
all the noise and can still be heard. I want one that will attach to
a Nextel i95cl. It has an over the ear ear piece and about a 2" boom mike.

Hello spierce,

Thank you for your question.

I must admit, I was going a bit batty for a moment. I had JUST seen
this a few days ago and my mind was blank as to where and what the
name is. But, I found the set you are looking for.

Its called "The Boom".

http://www.theboom.com/

"From the floor of the New York Stock Exchange to your cell phone
theBoom gives you unparalleled clarity in calls in any noise level.
theBoom attaches to cellular phones with ease, making your mobile
phone even more versatile. No cellphone headset on the market can give
you the freedom to make calls anywhere and be heard clearly."

PocketPC Passion has this to say abou tit:

http://www.pocketpcpassion.com/default.htm

"Are you ever in a loud environment on the phone and wish you could
hear or be heard better? I saw this for the first time during CES and
I am wondering how this well this will work with the Pocket PC Phone
or the Sprint CF voice card. I am contacting theBoom company today to
find out about testing this out. I bet it would work great at noisy
conferences. It sure isn't for the cheap at $149 but when you need
your phone to work in a noisy place price isn't going to be a big
problem. On their website is a comparison demo of theBoom from being
used inside a Blackhawk helicopter... very cool."

TheBoom can be ordered online here:
http://www.theboom.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.15.exe/online-store/scstore/?E+scstore

or by calling 1-888-230-3300

Price: $ 149.99

Although Nextel Phones are not listed on their site. I searched for
[Nextel i95cl] to see what the headphone jack spec is for this phone
and found that it has a standard tip, ring, sleeve 2.5mm headset jack
so compatibility should be no problem. It will, most likely, be the
same as their listing for Motorola.

I trust my research has found your headset. If a link above should
fail to work or anything require further explanation, please do post a
Request for Clarification and I will be pleased to assist further.

Regards,

Hello again,

I tried searching the standard ways - cellular +headeset +wireless
+"stock market", etc and did not get a hit for this. I KNEW I had seen
it twice in the last few weeks, and one was a job listing on
craigslist.org for sales to Fortune 500 companies and the company was
based in San Francisco's North Bay.

I added California, Marin and other key words to the mix
and....nothing.

I tried doing mental word associations as I could "see" the web site
and I knew they had a demo with a helicopter on the home page. No
good.

So, I concentrated on where I had seen it the second time. CES is the
annual Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas every January. I
normally read reviews and reports from several industries including
Home Theater, Computer and PocketPC for new developments and this MUST
have been where I saw it. I checked the archive of my #1 PocketPC site
- www.pocketpcpassion.com - and bingo. There it was.

So, we both got lucky.

There are so few words on their web pages, that it is a very tough
search to find anything that would lead to this page without using
"the boom" most likely. Searches such as cellular +stock +helicopter
bring about over 5,000 hits. Searching cellular +headset +stock
+helicopter +blackhawk brings up 3 hits and one is the Pocket PC
Passion page. But you would have had to know the details of the page
and the helicopter demo on it to get this result.

Thanks again for the question.

Excellent fast work and also explained to me in a clarification how he
searched and found it (basically the luck of looking at CES). This
helped me for the future....sp
