Hi there,

Google's logo for today celebrates Chinese New Year, which falls this
year on Feb 1. This year is the year of the Ram (or Black Sheep or
Goat) which is why you'll see a picture of a black sheep adorning the
logo today. You can find out more than you ever wanted to know about
Chinese New Year by visiting the linked sites below.

Hope that helps!

Doesn't Google themselves have a web site to explain their own holiday logos?

Clarification of Answer by deadlychiapet-ga on 04 Feb 2003 15:37 PST
Indeed they do!
It can be found at ://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html and
contains all the special logo's they've had since 1999. The Febuary
1st logo hasn't been updated yet on the page, but it'll likely be up
there soon.

Hope that helps! If there's anything else I can help you out with,
please feel free to ask.
