Hello mary1954,

I found one source for you:

Woolgatherings.com
Prices include shipping to US, $1.50 per oz, $20.00 per lb. (shiny
white)
http://www.woolgatherings.com/catalog/fibers.htm

Can you please tell me how many sources you need? Does it have to be
100% ramie thread? Does colour of the thread matter?

More than one source would be nice but not essentail. Yes, it would
have to be
100% ramie as it would be used for traditional bowstrings. Different
colors
also not important. Natural and white are great. If black were
available that would be great.
You are fast.
Mary

Hello mary1954,

I wasn't turning up any new websites, so am going to provide you with
this information. If this answer is not what you were looking for,
perhaps another researcher can find what you were looking for. I did
find three sources, and another link that might be useful for you.

First, let's start up with a definition of ramie thread for the
benefit of those who do not know what it is:

"Ramie is a fiber similar to linen. It has long been used in the
production of cloth in China and Japan, and has more recently become
more available in other parts of the world. Ramie is strong, lustrous
and washes well, but it tends to make a stiff fabric which has little
resilience. It is often combined with other threads such as cotton to
produce commercial fabrics and knitting yarns."

SOURCES OF RAMIE FIBERS:

This website offers: "Sea Green-Ramie"

Woolgatherings.com
Prices include shipping to US, $1.50 per oz, $20.00 per lb. (shiny
white)
http://www.woolgatherings.com/catalog/fibers.htm

This website offers two types of Ramie under the category "Cellulose
Fibers":

I found this message on Google Groups:
"Most retail spinning shops that carry Ashford wheels will be able to
get
flax or ramie for you - we are the distributors and we supply them.
If you don't find it, or need help email me."
