I own a Canon PowerShot A40. My only complaint is the cheap photo
organizer software that came with the package which managed to stop
functioning a few months after I bought the camera. After trying in
vain to fix it (uninstall, reinstall, etc.) I just moved on and spent
some money on a better organizer: Picassa. Unfortunately it doesn't
allow me to do what the Canon organizer did: upload pictures from my
computer to the compactflash card in the camera so that I can take the
card to a photoshop to make prints or burn them onto a CD. There must
be some cheap or free utility out there but I haven't found anything
that addresses my specific problem
I'm not interested in wasting time fixing the Canon organizer and I
hope to avoid spending a lot more money for a new organizer just to
solve my dilemma.

Hello shylock-ga!

There is a quick and easy way to deal with this issue but it will
require an additional hardware purchase (under $50). Is this
acceptable?

I'm aware I could buy a card reader but I cringe to spend money for a
device when I used to be able to do it for free with the Canon
software. I'm probably going to get a CDRW drive in the next few
months anyway but I have an urgent need to upload pictures the
original way NOW and in the immediate future.
