wardmaster..

Thanks for your question. According the the Council on Chiropractic
Education, which is accreditation body for chiropractic colleges,
there are several steps required to receive a Doctor of Chiropractic
Degree. First, typically, would be an undergraduate degree in arts or
sciences from an accredited university or college. Most schools
require at least 60 semester hours in English, the social sciences or
humanities, organic and inorganic chemistry, biology, physics, and
psychology as part of their undergraduate studies. Several of the
chiropractic colleges offer undergraduate degrees. 5 states (Florida,
Kansas, Montana, Rhode Island, Wisconsin) require undergraduate
degrees as well as chiropractic degrees. For specific information on
what your pre-chiropractic education should consist of, you can
download The CCE Standard for Doctor of Chiropractic Programs and
Institutions at [http://www.cce-usa.org/January-2002-Standards.pdf].
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this document. Pages 31-32
describe the undergraduate requirements.

Upon acceptance into an accredited school, you will be required to
have a minimum of 4,200 instructional hours (which roughly equals 2
years at 40 hours a week). Most DC programs are 3 years, however,
there are some programs that do offer accelerated programs. Below, I
have listed the accredited schools in the United States. If they
offer undergraduate work, I have noted that with a "U". If they offer
and acclerated program, I have noted that with an "A":

You can find additional information about these schools, as well as
those that are not accredited at
http://www.naturalhealers.com/results.shtml?special=Chiropractic&location=.

Average cost for a DC is between $11,000 and $20,000 per year. Some
programs run 9 months a year, others run 12. Traditional financial
aid is typcially available.

As for rankings, all of the above schools are accredited by the CCE,
therefore they are all qualified educational institutions. I found no
set rankings of the schools, which typcially are very arbitrary
anyway.

Thanks again for your question and I wish you much success as you
continue your education. I hope the above information has been
helpful and if you need any additional clarification, please let me
know prior to rating my answer.

Are there more chiropractor schools in the United States then the ones
you listed? Are the ones you listed only the accredited ones?

Thanks

Hi again, wardmaster,

The schools I have listed are the only accredited schools. If you
visit http://www.naturalhealers.com/results.shtml?special=Chiropractic&location=
you can see a list of schools, accredited and not.

Thanks for the 5-stars and good luck!
