George Leonard Moreland was a member of the Baseball Writers
Association of America(BWAA-1908) representing Pittsburgh. He was born
in England in 1862. He published a history of Baseball called Balldom
in 1914. He died between 1938-47). He had been a Pittsburgh sport
writer for the Pittsburgh Post and became a baseball statistician with
his own bureau. He also had a son named Leonard, and a wife name
Yvette, I think. For ALL his date,yr. & place of death I can pay $40.
For His date of birth in England would definitely earn a good tip.

Hello Rachal,
I so wish I could accept this man as my subject. Sadly, my
subject was an original member of the Baseball Writers Association in
1908. This person might have been a relative. But it doesn't move me
along. However, I still have 3 remaining questions from around 140
original ones. May I invite you to look around and try any of the 140
you like? I'd love to work with you on any you like! bluestreak
                                                        P.S. To other
researchers: I finally located Mary Ann Ganser's Mom and she gave me
her vitals. Born:Feb.4,1948 Died: March 14,1970 Cause:barbituate
overdose She sent me the death papers, & was amused at the mosquito
bite rumor. Just thought you guys might want to know. Thanks everyone
for a superhuman effort of generous help. It's been a real treat &
pleasure. Love you guy! Best reagards in all you do,

According to your Clarification of Question (Question ID: 363416)
George Leonard Moreland was "born in either England or Wales in 1852,
died between 1933-38".

Apparently, you have found some additional information concerning the
date of his birth (1852, not 1862) and his death (not later than
1938)?

Presumably, you are aware of this question:

fp,

The link you provided appears to be the effort of one of the
researchers to answer one of my questions. And I'm VERY appreciative
of those efforts. When I originally posted my question on George
Moreland, I was under the impression that he had died between
1938-1947.

Since then I've been able to narrow his death dates range to be
between Feb. 22, 1934 - Nov. 4, 1937. His son Leonard was born around
1902. In the 1910 census, his wife listed was Elizabeth, and listed
her age as 30. In the 1920 census, his wife appeared to write her
name as Yetta, and listed her age as 39. Maybe Yetta was a nickname
for Elizabeth. A piece in the Washington Post, dated Nov. 4, 1937,
referred to him as "the late George L. Moreland".

Also, when I wrote his birth yr. as 1852, I erred. It is 1862 in
England. I thank you so, so, very much for showing interest in my
questions.
