Emanuel Lasker was chess champion of the world from 1894-1921. He was 
born in Germany Dec.24,1868 & died in NYC on Jan.13,1941. I'm 
concerned about his wife,Martha (Bamberger)(Kohn)Lasker. She was born 
Nov.19,1867 in Berlin. I have no idea when she died or where. One online source 
lists her as dying in 1939. Lasker's biography says she outlived him. 
I need her date,yr of death

I was unsuccessful in discovering her date of death. I'm quite certain
that she outlived Emanuel, as she is periodically quoted (only in
German sources) as repeating Emanuel's supposed last words-- "König
des Schachs..." (trans. "King of chess...")

The more I look, the more I occasionally find references to her dying
in 1939, except I'm yet to find a date.

         May I extend my greetings to you!  Thank you so very much for
taking a look at one of my questions. I have seen the online reference
to the 1939 date.  However, we feel it is outweighed by the number of
other mentions that she out-lived her husband.  Lasker's biographer
tells of her being at his bedside when he passed.  Also, Gwagner has
emailed the Lasker society, as have I, and they told him that they'd
get back to him, but didn't. I got no answer at all. But we still try.
