I'm searching for newspaper or magazine qoutes from six to eight
prominent Republicans since the Reagan era (one of who must be Ronald
Reagan) speaking of the homeless in disparaging and/or callous terms.
I need exact qoutes; the name of the newspaper or magazine the quotes
appeared in, as well as the edition; and the title of the article.

Hello Vinie,

My research did not result in information meeting all your question's
requirements, but I hope the following can be of some help. I want to
add that I'm only quoting websites; I cannot verify the quotes.

Ronald Reagan
http://www.allhatnocattle.net/reagan%20quotes.htm
"You can't help those who simply will not be helped. One problem that
we've had, even in the best of times, is people who are sleeping on
the grates, the homeless who are homeless, you might say, by choice."
-- President Reagan, 1/31/84, on Good Morning America, defending his
administration against charges of callousness.

Dan Quayle
http://paul.merton.ox.ac.uk/misc/dan-quayle.html
"People are not homeless if they're sleeping in the streets of their
own hometowns."

Newt Gingrich
http://www.quotemeonit.com/gingrich.html
"When asked: What should we do about the homeless? 'Give the park
police more ammo.'"

Newt Gingrich
http://www.conservativeforum.org/authquot.asp?ID=1
"You can help Sam or Sally, you can't help the class. The minute
somebody says to you, 'Let's help the homeless,' you know they don't
get it." -- Sep. 01, 1994 - from an article in Commentary Magazine

Rush Limbaugh
http://www.geocities.com/jackchick_2000/quote.html
"One of the things I want to do before I die is conduct the homeless
olympics...the 10-metre shopping cart relay, the dumpster dig, and the
hop, skip, and trip." -- Rush Limbaugh

Evote.com - Mrs. Clinton Attacks Giuliani Plan (December 1, 1999)
http://www.evote.com/index.asp?Page=/news_section/1999-12/12011999Giuliani.asp
"[Rudolph Giuliani] said drug-addicted and alcoholic homeless people
are put in treatment, ''but there is a certain number of homeless
people -- not all, not the majority -- who are criminals or who are
wanted for crimes. The only people who get arrested are wanted for
crimes, or have committed a crime.''
He added: ''The basic response used to be to ignore people who were
living on the streets. Now we are dealing with it, dealing with the
consequences of mental illness.''"

Alternet.org - Food is a Human Right, Not a Charity (by Anuradha
Mittal, May 29, 2001)
http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=10944
"In the next bold step of welfare reform, we will support the heroic
work of homeless shelters and food pantries. Government cannot do this
work." -- Bush in his acceptance speech at the Republican National
Convention

The following quote is not from a US-Republican, but the article might
be of interest:

Alternet.org - Send Them to the Gas Chamber -- The Limits of Political
Incorrectness (by Don Hazen, April 26, 2000)
http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=1473
"Perhaps the most famous utterance of contempt for the plight of
impoverished people was the terminally frivolous Marie Antoinette, an
Austrian married to Louis XVI prior to the French Revolution

'Let them eat cake,' she responded when told there was no food for the
starving populace. Soon thereafter she [met] the guillotine."

Good luck!

I'd like to emphasize what j_philipp said about the quotes being
unverified. In particular, the Marie Antoinette story is urban legend:
http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a2_334.html

And the outrageous Gingrich "ammo" quote is mentioned on only 3 web
sites, without any attribution. I would expect far wider coverage if
it were true.

The other Gingrich quote is indeed from a magazine, but the full
context may or may not fit your parameters. If it does, then at least
that's one down.

This is not an answer, but I though you'd find it interesting

San Franscico mayor suggested giving the homeless the ability to
accept credit cards. Sadly amusing article...
