Greetings dear friends:

It is not strange that you didn't find any bodies of water in the
regions of Middle East because there are very very few natural bodies
of water (if any). The region is arid and is mostly composed of
desert. There is lot of good topographic maps that you can find in
stores BUT for a detailed online map of these regions the best and he
very best place is to access Expedia's topographic maps located at
http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll?qscr=mmfn

Once there type in Saudi Arabia in ‘Search for a place’.

After extensive research on online detailed maps I found out that it
is the only well known website which provides you amazingly detailed
topographic maps of your desired region (I said amazingly detailed).
You can even view canals and man built water resources. DONT FORGET to
zoom in and out to view detailed information. BUT again you will
hardly find any major natural resource of water in these areas
ALTHOUGH you may come across a small body of water. Anyway the point I
am making is that the maps are so detailed and easy to interpret that
if you don’t find something here than probably you wont find it
anywhere.

I will suggest you to first log onto a website which tells you about
the physical features of a certain country and than look into the
expedia maps. One such example is the written extensive details of
physical features and water resources of Saudi Arabia. The page is
located at http://www.saudinf.com/main/a2.htm

Other useful websites that may be useful (provide small maps):

Maps from University of Texas

http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/middle_east.html

Map of Saudi Arabia

http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/middle_east_and_asia/saudi_arabia.gif

Geographical map of Saudi Arabia

http://www.atlapedia.com/online/maps/physical/Saudi_etc.htm

Atlapedia class resource

http://www.atlapedia.com/online/mapresources.htm

I have done extensive research and I will suggest you to try to get
the information from Expedia topographic maps because it is far better
than the other online maps (http://www.mapquest.com.
http://www.mapblast.com and Yahoo maps.

Useful Search terms:

"oline maps"
"middle east topographic maps"
"topogrphic maps"

If you need further help or information please clarify and I will help
you out with your project. Thanks.

Your friend,
leader-ga
