The new apple Bropwser Safari does not seem to recoginze the
javascript history.back or history.go functions. I am using the
history.back function in a frameset being called by an onClick event
on a 'back button' on web page (graphic),  I need a javascript
relacement or other solution.

solution must also work for MSIE 4-5 and NS4-7 on mac and pc

The lack of those functions is a known issue and, supposedly, will be
rectified in the next release.

Thanks for your comment.  I have been unable to find out much at all
about this issue, can you point me to a source which suggest that the
will be addressed in upcomming releases?

According to the available information, Safari has some trouble with
frames also. You may not want to put too much effort into developing
workarounds for beta bugs that are likely to be fixed for release.
