Question ID: 156740
321 Studios is offering $1000 (One Thousand) Dollars to the first
person or organization who can provide a comprehensive list of DVD's
that meet the following criteria. This offer is made in good faith and
will be paid to the FIRST report we receive which meets our
requirements.

We need a report with information re DVD titles and features. This
should be as comprehensive as possible and should include:

Titles of DVDs that are no longer available or have been released for
a limited time (e.g. Snow White)-to show that for some titles DVDs
cannot be replaced if lost or damaged

Titles of DVDs with CSS that contain public domain materials not
protected by copyright (because expired, government, or otherwise
public domain) . (Buster Keaton boxed set?)

Titles of DVDs of copyrighted works without CSS (Diana Princess of
Wales?)

Titles of DVDs with extra features, bonus tracks, not available in
other formats such as VHS (Lord of the Rings?)

Reports should be in Excel or Word format and sent directly to
dvdreport@321studios.com. All data will be verified for accuracy and
must be completely accurate to qualify.

Cheers!

rhmoore..

A couple of things. Google Researchers are not permitted personal
contact (i.e. email) with customers. We do, however, have resources
where we can post Excel and/or Word documents for you to download.

Secondly, you are offering $1,000, however, the maximum value of a
question is $200 and the maximum amount of a tip is $200, for a total
of $500. What I might recommend is that you break your request up
into 4 separate, $200 questions:

"Titles of DVDs that are no longer available or have been released for
a limited time (e.g. Snow White)-to show that for some titles DVDs
cannot be replaced if lost or damaged"

"Titles of DVDs with CSS that contain public domain materials not
protected by copyright (because expired, government, or otherwise
public domain) . (Buster Keaton boxed set?)"

"Titles of DVDs of copyrighted works without CSS (Diana Princess of
Wales?) "

"Titles of DVDs with extra features, bonus tracks, not available in
other formats such as VHS (Lord of the Rings?) "

The amount of work required to fulfill all four of your requests would
be immense and breaking it down into 4 "smaller" lists would give you
a better chance of getting it answered.

Just some thoughts.

Regards,

As a clarification to the clarification: obviously $200+$200 does not
equal $500. I was getting ahead of myself in the request. Trust me.
The researchers here are much, MUCH better than my basic math skills
:)

We will pay the reporter the additional $800 via PayPal upon
acceptance. I really need the entire report, not just parts of it.
Many of the parameters of the report are co-dependant on the other
parts, so I think this is the best way.

Again, we are running into issues with personal contact between
Researchers and customers. We, as researchers, are not permitted to
provide email addresses (which would be required for PayPal) nor can
we accept payment outside of Google Answers.

Another issue you are going to run into is the adult video market, as
there are literally thousands of DVD's in that arena alone.

I don't understand what would be the harm in providing this
information AFTER the report has been submitted and paid for through
Google. After the research has been completed, there must be a way for
321 to pay the additional bounty. After all, it was us who suggested
it in the first place. We could have asked for the report to be
completed for the max $200 allottment, but instead have offered to up
this amount significantly to get the report completed quickly and
accurately.

And it is not even necessary to provide your email address. This could
be accomplished by providing a mailing address to which we mail a
certified check for the balance, as an alternative.

Providing a physical address would also be in violation of Google
Answers policies. The issue with payments that take place outside of
Google Answers stems from the fact that Google takes 25% of the value
of the question as profit, and pays us 75% of the value of the
question. By paying a researcher outside of GA, Google does not
recieve a commision. You could, however, provide 4 $200 tips, which
would then in turn equal $1,000.

Then that's what we'll do. Good idea!

Mr. Moore,

The method proposed by rmn-ga isn't precisely possible - only *one*
tip of no more than $100 can be left on any given question.

In order to offer the sum you propose, you'll have to open several
questions.

A small correction; tips are currently ranging from $1 - $100 (not
$200 as mentioned above):

Also note that the querant requested that the answer be submitted
directly to an email address. I thought the idea here is to commission
research that could be shared with the entire Google Answers
community.
