I am looking to deploy 802.11a in my 3 story office building. Our T-1
terminates on the first floor and I do not want to run UTP to the 2nd
and 3rd floors.

Please recommend an 802.11a solution that does not require any cabling
except that of a device connected directly to my cisco 2600 router.
Perhaps the solution involves dual-radios, one for local aggregation
and one for backhaul.

Are you able to receive a signal from the floor below at any point on
a floor? For example, if you put an access point on the first floor,
can you get the signal from the second floor, directly above the
access point?

Also, what area is each floor, roughly and are they heavily
partitioned?

It should be quite simple to setup a 802.11 network with an access
point of each floor.

Let me know a little about your specifics and I should be able to find
some specific products and documentation.

I am looking for a solution where we can attach external directional
antennas if there is any problem radioing through floors.

When we ran a test on one floor, we were able to cover all areas with
two linksys wireless access points. The area of a floor is divided
into two rectangles - one 20' x 60', the other 15' x 30'.
