I am a Web developer looking for shopping cart software that can plug
into HTML or ASP code. I want to have full control over the
appearance and functionality of Web sites I develop, while relying on
a robust process that tracks and tallies customer selections, handles
charge card submission and multiple tax structures, and computes
shipping and handling. I want to offer this to clients for use on
any server or any equipped to also handle ASP and Access.

Ideally, I’d like to find several such systems so I can compare before
I buy. I am already aware of Shopping Cart Pro by Web Genie and was
wondering what else is available.

Hi Squarepeg,

It's a little hard to provide any accurate evaluation for you without
downloading, installing and trying each one, however there are a large
number available.

Here are some promising options:

iisCart
http://www.iiscart.com/
This product seems to offer the features you are seeking. It is a
commercial product, and may require the purchase of additional
modules. A free trial is available.

ProductCart
http://www.earlyimpact.com/productcart/index.asp
Another commercial product with a wide range of options. Seems pretty
extensive, but also complicated. No free trial is available, but there
are online demos.

eShop
http://www.cyberstrong.com/eshop/default.asp
Again, a commercial product with good features. A free trial is
available. Includes source code.

Webstores 2000
http://www.webcortex.com/site2000/index.asp
Commercial product, quite configurable. A free demo is available.

CandyPress StoreFront/StoreAdmin
http://www.candypress.com/LiveWeb/Main/default.asp
A clever combination of free and commercial products - the front end
is free, the backend is not. Online demos are available.

Obviously this is by no means a full list, however it seems like a
fiarly good range.

I found these from the following site, where they are listed with more
than 100 other ASP 'cart' projects with differing degrees of
functionality:
http://www.hotscripts.com/ASP/Scripts_and_Components/E-Commerce/Shopping_Carts/

You may find that no one product does what you want, how you want. If
that is the case, there are a number of open-source products on that
site that you maybe able to combine to create the tools you need.

I hope that one of the products above will do what you need, or that I
have at least put you on the right path for your perfect solution.

Regards,
sycophant-ga
