#1 how many couples sign up (begin the process) for adoption
in the US per year. I only want couples that are NEW to the
adoption process. I realize adoption takes a long time, even
years, but if a couple decides to adopt in 1999, and starts
the paperwork in 1999, they are counted in 1999, and not every
   year after that.

#2 how many estimated (legal + illegal) abortions are there per year in the US.

Regards,
Pjordan

Regarding part 1, do you want adoptions that only take place in the US
or do you want to count international adoptions as well?

Regarding #1, the criteria should be that the "adoptors" live in the
US. So the people adopting are from the US, but their locale
preference for a child can be anywhere. Remember, I am not asking how
many people adopt, but how many people (new to that adoption cycle)
start the adoption process each year.

Now, if a couple adopts seven kids and in total takes 15 years, the
couple can only be counted 7 times max, and not be counted once each
year for 15 years.

The above is just an example posted so you can get a better idea of
the scope of my question.
