Identify individuals who founded a concept and/or brand, whose name
and personality were very strongly linked to that company/brand, who
deceased during the life-cycle of that concept/brand, and yet their
brand/concept has successfully survived their death. Or the business
has managed to survive a successful disconnect of the concept/brand
from the founder so that the concept/brand lives on strongly by
itself, as its own entity.

Examples include Walt Disney, Mary Kay, Jim Henson, Wendy's, Dale
Carnegie, L. Ron Hubbard & Scientology, Colonel Sanders and KFC, Andy
Warhol, Buckminster Fuller and Geodisic Dome, Martin Luther King,
.....

Some terms that I have come up with are:
* Cult branding (from the book The Power of Cult Branding) * Branding
* Legacy * Hallmark *20th Century influentials

Please provide a list of individuals similar to the above. At least 20
additional names are required.

researchondemand..

What a fascinating question. Here is a list that I came up with.
While some at first glance may be a stretch, the way I came up with
them was one of three ways: The first person that came to mind in a
certain industry or how closely I associated that person within a
specific industry or the familiarity with the name and the industry
with which they were associated:

Dale Earnhardt
Karsten Solheim->Ping Golf Equipment
Henry Ford
Conrad Hilton
Orvile Redenbacher
J.C. Penney
Howard Johnson
Max Factor
Armand Hammer
Alfred Bloomingdale
Coco Chanel
L.L. Bean
Sam Walton
Charles Schultz
Salvador Dali
Col. Tom Parker
Jonas Salk
Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss)
Victor Kiam
Ray Kroc

I am sure I, and others, will come with more, but this 20 ought to get
you started. Thanks again for a great question and I hope the above
information has been helpful. If you need any additional
clarification, please let me know prior to rating my answer.

Regards,

Although many of the names are right on target, some are not
recognizable as a product. For example, Ray Kroc ran McDonalds but his
name has nothing to do with the brand - McDonalds. Dale Earnhardt,
Karsten Solheim, Col. Tom Parker, Jonas Salk , Theodore Geisel (Dr.
Seuss), Victor Kiam, Armand Hammer also do not fit the bill since
their names are not related to a specific product (When you hear
Victor Kiam, what comes to mind?). Could you please come up with 10
addtional names? Thanks for your efforts!

I will come up with some 10 more names for you, though I beg to differ
with a couple of the ones you didn't choose. Col. Tom Parker..that is
a stretch, though some say he "invented" Elvis. Victor Kiam owned
Norelco and was it's spokesperson for years. Depending on your age,
you will remember "I liked it so much, I bought the company." Dale
Earnhardt is still the top selling NASCAR personality and has been
dead for almost two years and Dale Earnhardt Enterprises (DEI) is one
of the top teams in NASCAR. Ray Kroc was the spokesman early on for
McDonald's, though I can see your point. Karsten Solheim was the sole
spokesperson for Ping and they have been, and still are years after
his death, in the top 3 golf manufacturers. As for Dr. Suess, while
the name Theodore Geissel may not be as recognizable as some, there
are those that immediately put him with Dr. Seuss.

Be that as it may, I will research and get you some more names that
fit in more with what you are looking for.

Thanks!

I am sorry, I don't play golf, watch auto racing, and I don't shave
so I don't remember Victor Kiam. I was just asking for current well
known products or services known nationally or internationally. If you
think of any other good names, that would be great!

No need for apologies. I was just saying that to show that while you
(and others) may not find those names familiar, others do. Your
example of Buckminster Fuller was why I chose them as well as there
are, I would think, more people that would identify Dale Earnhardt
with NASCAR thant Fuller with the Geodisic Dome. Also, Martin Luther
King has nothing to do with a brand, per se, though he is definately
recognizable. Just a difference in definitions I guess. Are the
additional names I have provided fitting in with your needs? If so,
that gives me more to go on if I can find any more.

Eli Lilly, H.J. Heinz, etc. are great! However, I am just looking for
"dead people" and George Foreman is still alive and well as far as I
know (I really like the guy!) Keep the names coming if you don't mind,
thanks!

George Foreman? Who said George Foreman? I feel that the list I have
provided and you have accepted have met the requirements in the
question asked. I will continue to see if any pop up, but I think
that I have met the requirements outlined in the question, of 20
names:

Henry Ford
Conrad Hilton
Orvile Redenbacher
J.C. Penney
Howard Johnson
Max Factor
Alfred Bloomingdale
Coco Chanel
L.L. Bean
Sam Walton
Charles Schultz
Salvador Dali
John Marriott
William Wrigley
Marshal Field
George Halas-Chicago Bears
John Paul Getty
Adolph Coors
Adolphus Busch
Louis Mayer
Oscar Mayer
Earl Scheib
R.J. Reynolds
James Kraft
Eli Lilly
H.J. Heinze
Milton Bradley
George Eastman
William Hewlett
David Packard
Levi Strauss

Unless you feel otherwise, let me know.

Picky clarification: Victor kiam owned remington, not Norelco.
Wendy's is technically incorrect because Wendy is still very much
alive but her father is deceased (Dave Thomas), and Ray Kroc founded
and built Mcdonald's, any spokesman duties were secondary.
