How do you read the "full header" on a recieved e-mail to determine
where it was sent from? I would like to know how to interpret the info
on the "full headers" to identify who sent the e-mail and where/when
(ie. what country and time)it was sent.

Hi thomas1953:

Thanks for the interesting question.

There are several techniques for determining where an email was sent
from. Instead of regurgitating them here, I will point you to the two
most well-regarded tutorials on deciphering "full" email headers.
These two sites should provide you with all the help you need.

Reading Email Headers
http://www.stopspam.org/email/headers/headers.html

How to Interpret Email Headers
http://help.mindspring.com/docs/006/emailheaders/
http://help.mindspring.com/docs/006/emailheaders/CIHDAIHF.php3

As you can see from both of these resources, there are ways for email
senders to try and "fake" the origin of their emails - as well as ways
to battle this type of "fraud".

At the end of the day, you are likely to find the IP address of the
sending machine. To translate that IP address into a location, I
suggest using one of the following tools.

IP Address Locator Tool
http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm?GetLocation

WHEREIS

I hope this information has helped you. If you need clarification of
anything I've provided here, please let me know via a Clarification
Request, and please allow me to respond before you rate this answer.

Thanks.
