Question ID: 157389
1) If a Nexsan ATAboy2 is purchased not fully populated (i.e. with 3
drives or 8 drives, capacity is 14), what comes in the other bays? An
empty drive carrier, or just a "piece of cardboard" over the hole?

2) What is on the carrier? Is it an entirely passive piece of plastic,
or are there electronics on it?

3) (if you can) Assuming you have a carrier, can bare off-the-shelf
drives be used to replace and/or supplement the existing drives?

I am aware of the issues with backplane spacing and drive
manufacturer.
