Hi, c1pinse-ga:

Would you please verify that the smaller connector has 10 pins. A 9
pin connector would be more normal for a serial communications port.

It is a 10 pin connection. There are no pins missing on the card or
cable.I should also mention that there is a 4 pin power connector at
back end of the card. This the same connection as you would to plug in
a cd-rom,burner,hard drive..Hope this helps.

Is the an FCC ID # on the card anywhere?

And what arrangement is this 10-pin connector? I don't think I have
ever seen a 10-pin connector before? It is a 15-pin connector with 5
pins missing, or is it designed with only 10 pin? Would it be possible
to get a photograph of the card in question?

The easiest thing would probably be if you were to get some webspace
and upload the pictures.

You can get general webspace here:
http://www.geocities.com/
http://tripod.lycos.com/
(and many other places)

Or you can get image hosting here:
http://www.villagephotos.com/

(and many other places)

I have done some more searching and have come up with this.It turns
out that the card is a IBM CONTOLLER HOST CD/FD.There were these
numbers imbedded on the card;75h8895.I don't know if the cd/fd means
cd-rom-floppy drive.Maybe you can find that out for me,thanks.Type in
the 75h8895 and go to ibm parts. You will see the picture.

Yes, c1pinse-ga, that is precisely what it means: a CD and floppy disk
controller. The part was probably used in an IBM Aptiva system. See

Congratulations on solving your own puzzle! You obviously have some
good search skills.
