Cool question, and will let an expert give you better answer. Will try to toss out some ideas: Think about what is perceived about the environment that would be of interest to the organization. Future expectations of the company Threats/opportunities Likelihood of success of proposed initiatives Quality of executive team (my favorite) Future of firm's and competitive products Technological breakthroughs and their impacts Salary parity as compared to the industry/locale Then think 'how can they alter this.' Memos Investment and Alliance decisions Corporate Strategy or focus Pay scales and HR policities Hiring..... In rereading your question, I think I may be treating this as a 'Management' versus 'Staff' issue and using Management as a substitute for the culture. You may want to clarify are you treating this as 'we the organization' and 'our culture' as what exists to define the organization and how we can change it? One of my favorite culture books is Peter Scott Morgan's "Unwritten Rules of the Game." Puts a very, almost quantitative structure around culture and allows you to act to modify it. Great for engineering types and people who don't like talking about 'soft' subjects. Good luck! |
