I attend the University of Texas-Austin and am an economics major. I would like to find ways to become involved in the University and in the Austin community. I'm looking for opportunites such as internships or part time jobs that would look good on a resume and or give me real business experience to help me decide what career path to take out of college. Volunteer positions and organizations I can become a member of are good as well(I know some organizations have minimum GPA requirments. Mine is a 2.1 at the university and a 2.7 when my transfer hours are counted.). Basically, I just would like information on oppportunities such a these. |

11 years ago I was in the same boat, I have one of my Masters from there. Something I tried to do, but did not have the time, was to get active in the Incubator up on Research and MoPac. I'd also first talk to the Directors of the CSO, they might have some ideas. I have a ton of stuff I need help on, and am trying to get SMU to help me get interns, but a free internship is best when done with a known company, an industry you want to work for, a reference which will bring weight and most of all if there is a chance that it could become paid or permanent. Good luck. Hook 'em... |
