The song I am looking for from the 1980's is "I am Thinking About You"
Once again I am not sure if this is the title, but it has these words in it.

Hi tutuzdad-ga,

I am sorry,I did repost the wrong question (from our earlier
discussion).
The song that I am still looking for,is "I want to need, I want
to need you". I am not sure if this is the title or some of the
words in the song.
It was popular in the early 1980's.
Once again sorry for the wrong info. thanks for your help.

MEATLOAF
"TWO OUT OF THREE AIN'T BAD"

Here are the lyrics:

Baby we can talk all night
But that ain't getting us nowhere
I told you everything I possibly can
There's nothing left inside of here

And maybe you can cry all night
But that'll never change the way that I feel
The snow is really piling up outside
I wish you wouldn't make me leave here

I poured it on and I poured it out
I tried to show you just how much I care
I'm tired of words and I'm too hoarse to shout
But you've been cold to me so long
I'm crying icicles instead of tears

And all I can do is keep on telling you
I want you I want you I need you I need you
But there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad... don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad
Now don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad

You'll never find your gold on a sandy beach
You'll never drill for oil on a city street
I know you're looking for a ruby
In a mountain of rocks
But there ain't no Coupe de Ville hiding
At the bottom of a Cracker Jack box

I can't lie... I can't lie
I can't tell you that I'm something I'm not
No matter how I try
I'll never be able to give you something
Something that I just haven't got

Well there's only one girl that I will ever love
And that was so many years ago
And though I know I'll never get her out of my heart
She never loved me back oooh I know

Well I remember how she left me on a stormy night
Ah she kissed me and got out of our bed
And though I pleaded and I begged her
Not to walk out that door
She packed her bags and turned right away

And she kept on telling me
She kept on telling me... she kept on telling me
I want you I want you I need you I need you
But there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad... don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad

I want you I want you I need you I need you
But there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad... don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad
Now don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad

Baby we can talk all night
But that ain't getting us nowhere

This is a beautiful song that was wildly popular during the time frame
you mentioned.

From your earlier question:
http://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=155708

My understanding is that you are still seeking the song which says in
part something like "I want to need you", and that you have found the
other song you weere looking for (the one you mentioned in the
question above) is this correct? If is so then perhaps you
inadvertently reposted the wrong question (from our earlier
discussion). If not, then perhaps I am misunderstood your comments in
the earlier question. At any rate, please review the song I have
provided.

Thanks;

Could it be Bread's "Baby I'm-a Want You?"

Baby, I'm-a want you
Baby, I'm-a need you
You the only one I care enough to hurt about
Maybe I'm-a crazy
But I just can't live without...
Your lovin' and affection
Givin' me direction
Like a guiding light to help me through a darkest hour
Lately I'm a-prayin'
That you'll always be a-stayin' beside me

Could it be 'If Only' from Hanson? Here are thCause I need you, yeah,
Cause I need you

Every single time I see you
I start to feel this way
Makes me wonder if I'm ever gonna feel this way again
There's a picture that's hanging in the back of my head
I see it over and over

* I want to hold you and love you in my arms and then
I want to need you 'cause I need to be with you 'til the end
Then I hear myself reply you've got to
Hold it in (she'll never let you in)
This time, tonight

** If only I had the guts to feel this way
If only you'd look at me and want to stay
If only I'd take you in my arms and say
I won't go 'cause I need you
(…'cause I need you)
(Please don't go 'cause I need you)
I sit here, waiting, wondering, hoping
That I'll make this right
Cause all I think about is your hands
Your face, and all these lonely night
There's a feeling that's screaming
In the back of my head
Saying over and over
(Repeat */ **)

Please don't go 'cause I need you know
I want to hear you say
It'll always be this way
We will be hand in hand for ever night and ever day
I want to scream and shout
Cause I'm losing any doubt
And all I care about is you and me and us and now

…ooh yeah, ooh yeah,,,yeah
(Repeat **)

Please don't go 'cause I need you now, yeah
Cause I need you, I need you now

I need you…
Cause I need you now
(Adlib with chorus 'if only' to end)e lyrics:

Dear tick-ga:

How about this one...

I NEED YOU
(by America)

We used to laugh
We used to cry
We used to bow our heads then wonder why
But now you're gone, I guess I'll carry on
And make the best of what you left to me
Left to me, left to me.

I need you
Like the flower needs the rain
You know, I need you
Guess I'll start it all again
You know, I need you
Like the winter needs the spring
You know I need you
I need you

And every day
I'd laugh the hours away
Just knowin' you were thinkin' of me
Then it came
That I was put to blame
For every story told about me
About me, about me

I need you
Like the flower needs the rain
You know, I need you
Guess I'll start it all again
You know, I need you
Like the winter needs the spring
You know I need you
Guess I'll start it all again
You know, I need you
I need you, I need you

No, no no, I think it's got to be Cheap Trick's "I want you to want me":

I want you to want me.
I need you to need me.
I'd love you to love me.
I'm beggin' you to beg me.

I want you to want me.
I need you to need me.
I'd love you to love me.
I'll shine up the old brown shoes, put on a brand-new shirt.
I'll get home early from work if you say that you love me.

Didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you cryin'?
Oh, didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you cryin'?
Feelin' all alone without a friend, you know you feel like dyin'.
Oh, didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you cryin'?

I want you to want me.
I need you to need me.
I'd love you to love me.
I'm beggin' you to beg me.

Feelin' all alone without a friend, you know you feel like dyin'.
Oh, didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you cryin'?

I want you to want me.
I need you to need me.
I'd love you to love me.
I'm beggin' you to beg me.
I want you to want me.
I want you to want me.
I want you to want me.
I want you to want me.

It's already been established the the "Cheap Trick" song is not the one.

Ok Tick...how about this one:

http://www.dfan.org/honestbob/lyrics/dont.html

DON'T WANT TO

(features these lyrics)

"I want you to want me to do what you want me to do
But if you don't want to be wanted then I won't want you
If that's what you want then I'll go and I'll want someone new
'Cause you know that I want to want you but I want to be wanted too"

Or this...

I WANT TO WANT YOU
by Juliana Hatfield

http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/SongUnid/5070FD0F8EC60B7048256A8C0027A94E

(partial lyrics)
"Dust off the instruments
Do you still know how to play?
With the pride of lions you rub me the wrong way
Stick your hand in the cookie jar, pull out bad poetry.

I want to want you
I want to want you

My face has changed
I don't look the same
A human mutation
Alienation factory
Too much information, maybe."

I'll take a wild guess at this topic:

Londonbeat: "I´ve been thinking about you"

If nothing else, it's a good soundtrack.

Try to give a listen to "Baby I need your Lovin'" by Carl Carlton and
see if it's the one. Sorry I couldn't point to a source on the Net, I
couldn't find any.
