During a recent google re-indexing, Google found our site with a Title
tage that said "Home Page". This was a one day error on our part and
our title has been restored to what is appropriate. Unfortunately, our
listing title on the search results page now reads "home page".
Obviously my click thrus are no lower because people are opting for a
well crafted title tag. My Question is actually simple:

While Google re-index my site and change my title back without me have
to wait another 30 days. How can I accomplish this? Just wait? Re-Add
URL?

Thank you.

Hello chicago-ga,

As a Researcher, I cannot speak on behalf of Google. But I can tell
you what Google itself and others have said on this subject.

Google explains, under the headings "My Site's Listing Is Incorrect"
and "My information is outdated":

"When you update information on your site it does not automatically
update instantly in Google's index. Rather, Google's index is updated
approximately once a month after our robots have crawled more than 3
billion web pages. This process is totally automated, so updated or
outdated link submissions are not necessary. Changes to your site's
content will be noted by the next crawl. Due to the volume of sites
in our index, we cannot manually update pages on an individual basis."

"Webmaster Info: Incorrect Listing"
Google
://www.google.com/webmasters/3.html

Google also indicates that it "refreshes millions of web pages every
day to ensure that Google users have access to the most current
information".

"Google Press Release: Google Offers Immediate Access to 3 Billion Web
Documents" [under heading "The Latest News and Fresh Content"]
Google
://www.google.com/press/pressrel/3billion.html

Google provides links to articles that mention the daily crawl.
Initially, only three million pages were refreshed daily; as of August
2002, Google had "gone beyond those core pages, though it won't say
exactly how far."

You can determine whether a site is refreshed monthly or daily by
whether the date (and in some cases the time) is listed with the
search result for that site on Google.

There is much speculation as to why certain sites are refreshed daily
and how to become a site that receives the daily reindexing. It seems
that a high PageRank and frequent updates increase the likelihood of a
daily crawl. Here are a few considerations of this issue:

"Google daily re-indexing!" (Aug 19, 2002 +)

My impression from all of the foregoing information is that it would
be difficult, if not impossible, instantly to turn a site that is
indexed monthly into a site that is indexed daily. I would suggest
posting a question on the "Google News" forum at WebmasterWorld (
http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/ ), and the Google User Support
Discussion Forum ( http://groups.google.com/groups?q=google.public.support.general
) to confirm that this is correct.

In the meantime, to get fast (though not free) satisfaction, you could
try Google AdWords ( https://adwords.google.com/select/ ).

I hope that this information is helpful.

Hi, chicago!

One of the best, quickest ways to get Google to re-index your updated
home page is to re-submit it at Google:
This should help to get the old site replaced by the new in Google's
index within a month or so (though quite possibly much sooner).

If you have not already submitted your site to DMOZ (the Directory
Mozilla/Open Directory Project), you should do so, because Google and
DMOZ are buddies, and updates on DMOZ filter down to Google. (Be sure
to find the best category for your website first.)

Best wishes,
