I am looking for a good website that will take me through the design
and construction of a electric generators. I need the formulas to
calculate how many windings, rpm, flux field, number of poles to use,
etc to generate a given amount of electricity. For example: I would
like to build a generator that generates 500kw of power per hour at
120 volts and 60hz How many windings of what size and what rpm should
I use for the number of poles. I am not interensted in the websites
that tell you how to build a "brake drum" generator if the formulas
are not given.

Hi,

Thank you for your question. I have looked extensively on the internet
for the information you need but am not able to find all the details
put down together in one place. The best way out would be to refer a
good book on Electrical Machine Design. A year ago I completed a
course in this area. I can suggest some excellent books which cover
*in detail* the construction of such machines. Would that suffice as
an answer? Please let me know and I will post the names and authors of
these books.

Warmest Regards,
Shiv Reddy

Hi! I found this link which talks about electric motors. Is this how
complicated you want your machine to be? If this is what you are
looking for, I will post it as an answer and collect the fee.

Just let me know. :)

You link goes into a lot of the theory for elctric motors in general
and a lot of that applies to generators but not to the level I'm
looking for. Sorry :( I may have to tip big on this one once I find
the site :)
