Question ID: 159013
I am developing a flash game that embeds a real player client that
shows live video stream. The embedding of the real client is done
using the FMProjector software. The FMProjector creates an exe file.
The problem is, that the FMProjector keeps the right click menu for
itself, and I need to use it for my needs.
I have to use the flash and the real player software. I don't mind
replacing the FMProjector with another software, as long as it will
produce an exe file that can show real client stream inside it.
I cannot use solutions that embed the two in DHTML, since browser is
not part of my application.
I cannot use windows media player instead, since my streaming server
is real's. I know that there is a solution called Jugglor, but it
seems to work only with windows media player.

Is there a solution to my problem? I would like to find a tool, either
free or a commercial one, that can embed the two together to an exe.
If FMProjector can do it - I would like to know how. Another answer
might be that my only solution is to replace the real player with
another player. I prefer not to develop myself, but to purchase
software for that, but if it is a relatively simple coding solution -
it is a good answer too.
The flash version that I use is 6. The game is for windows.

Dear Adib -

This migt seem beside the point, but could you please tell us what you
need the right click menu for ? Is it for printing, scaling,
text-copying etc ... in flash?

There may be away to add the specific functionality you seek without
resorting to the right click menu.

All the best

Hi Skorba,

Regarding your clarification request - in my game I click the left
mouse button in order to put money and I need to have the right mouse
button to allow removing money. Today I use the shift+left mouse
button, but the users do not want to use the keyboard at all. The
native action is the right mouse button, and I see them trying to do
it. Therefore, I cannot think of a way to go around the problem.

Good luck...

No answer for you, unfortunately, but here's the outcome of my
research that may help you or another Researcher find the answer...

An email to me from FLASHANTS Inc notes,

"Unfortunatly, FMProjector current version doesn't support such
feature yet.
The right mouse menu customization is only supported by iceProjector.
And we will try to add this in the future FMProjector."

So, FMProjector doesn't seem to be an option, and iceProjector doesn't
fit your needs. One possible, with the emphasis on "possible",
solution would be to use Director to embed both the Flash and
streaming video, and you could certainly use Lingo to capture the
right-mouse clicks and substitute your own commands. Unfortunately, my
experience has been that little with Director is a "simple coding
solution", in fact usually the opposite, and I'm not sure what the
latest integration between Director and RealMedia is, but I offer it
for your exploration. Finally, I came across this site...

...which provides demos of the Flash Communication Server, which could
be another avenue to explore. Best of luck,

rico
