Why didn't "Positive on-hit, base." match any documents?

Hi,

From what I understand, you are asking about the result of a query you
ran on Google. Google Answers is a separate entity from Google the
search engine. If you clarify what you actually were looking for, the
researchers here may find the answer or suggest a better keyword to
search for.

Your Google search for ---

"Positive on-hit, base."

…did not match any documents because there are no Google indexed
documents containing that EXACT phrase.

When you put your search terms in quotation marks, Google searches for
the identical phrase. That is, the words must appear in the exact
order and together, just like you’ve specified.

But, if you take away the quotation marks ---

Positive on-hit base

You DO get results, because now Google is searching for documents
containing all of the words, but not necessarily in the order you
have typed them, and not necessarily together.

Notice that at the top of the page Google is suggesting that perhaps
you meant to search for :

Positive on-hitbase

That is because it has apparently found at least one page that
contains that term:

Finally, if you KNOW that there exists a page that contains :
"Positive on-hit, base." (For example, if it is in your web page) and
you are wondering why it doesn’t show up in your search, it is
probably because that page has not been indexed by Google yet.

For more information on that, please read these questions and answers

Well, taking your question literally, searching Google the way you say
you did would mean that you were searching only for the phrase
"Positive on-hit, base." Searching using quotation marks restricts a
search only to results exactly as you have entered them. I would
venture to say that that was why you had no matches.

Try searching using different methods. Check out Google's Advanced
Search page at < ://www.google.com/help/refinesearch.html >

Good luck!
