Question ID: 159168
I have a BrokSonic VCR Model VHSA-6741C. It says I can have 181
channels, but I'm only gettin 66 of the 101 I can get on cable with my
other TVs. I want to reset the VCR so it can get the 101 channels
that I should be getting. I do not have a manual (which I'm sure
would do the trick) or a remote.. which may allow me to do some
onscreen settings. How do I get my VCR to reset itself to look and
get all the channels available on the cable at our house and I get on
other TVs in other rooms? Thanks you.

Your situation looks pretty grim without a remote, but I do have two
suggestions:

1. Unplug you VCR and leave it unplugged overnight. This might erase it's
internal memory. When you plug it back in, it might reset to cable reception.

2. Consider buying a universal remote control. Look for one with a Menu button.

Good luck.

Hi Chris,

A cursory search indicated that you will need a remote in order to
reset the VCR. I suggest you look into
http://www.replacementremotes.com/ who claim that they either have, or
can find, most remotes.

regards,

rico

Since this isn't really an answer to your question, I'll post it as a
comment instead. I concur with the comments from bavi_h and rico that
you'll probably have a tough time resetting your VCR without a remote,
though you might find something in the owner's manual to help. A
universal remote might work just fine, but in case you'd like to
obtain the remote that goes with that particular model VCR and/or the
owner's manual, I emailed Broksonic on your behalf to inquire about
it. Here's their reply:
