Greetings, keithporteous!

Your question is once that can be Answered either very briefly or
quite comprehensively.

I AM interested in answering your question, but I believe that to
answer it well, your question will require more time and effort than
the average amount of time and effort associated with this price.

You may wish to refer to the Google guidelines about pricing your
question:
https://answers.google.com/answers/pricing.

If you wish a more comprehensive Answer and would be willing to raise
your fee, you can do so by clicking the "Edit Parameters" button on
this Question and posting a Clarification here that that is what you
want -- and you should include the URL of your website. Or, if you
wish merely to receive a few links to sites where you may find helpful
information, just post a Clarification here stating that, and I can
provide you with that information as well.

Hi keithporteous,

I have found in the past that the most effective and free way to add a
website to a number of search engines, including Google, is to have it
added to the Open Directory Project (DMOZ). You can either add it to
the "Personal Homepages" section of the directory or, if it is
specifically about a subject, to the directy area for that subject. I
would suggest Personal Homepages. It doesn't really matter much where
the page is added, because most of the search engines that grab the
DMOZ data use the data in their general search engines.

Here's some information from the DMOZ site:

Personal Homepages directory page
http://dmoz.org/Society/People/Personal_Homepages/

Guidelines for Submitting a Site to Personal Homepages
http://dmoz.org/Society/People/Personal_Homepages/desc.html

About the Open Directory Project
http://dmoz.org/about.html

You can also add your site directly to Google by filling out the quick
form at this site: ://www.google.com/addurl.html
