You don’t say whether you’ve already starter investigating what is
available. My research shows that there are lots of medical practice
management products on the market. It seems that there are two areas
of specialty that these products cover (either alone or in
combination) -- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Practice
Management (PM). In addition, there are middleware products that help
integrate the stand-alone versions. The products also tend to be
classified by three functional topics – Workflow, Clinical, and
Financial. As I see it, you’re looking for the following capabilities:
Workflow,
-- patient scheduling and
Clinical,
-- outpatient
-- orthopedic practice
-- physical therapy,
Financial
-- HIPAA-ready
-- medical billing,
-- claims tracking.
The Clinical topics are usually covered by Electronic Medical Record
(EMR) products and the Financial capabilities are usually in the
Practice Management (PM). Workflow capabilities are typically included
in both.
Since evaluating these products is fairly complex, I’ve found some
articles that can help you prioritize your objectives as well as a
market research report that goes into much more detail if you choose
to dig deeper. I follow these resources with specific products that
