My guess would be that allegra has produced a marketing campaign for
their product that convinces people that it works as well or better
than previously existing anti-histamine products without the sedating
side effects of those prior products. I have used allegra and feel
that their marketing is accurate. From what I understand, Allegra has
similar products that compete with it, but given the sheer number of
allegra commercials I have seen, it is doing a better job of marketing
itself.
Thus, allegra does not need to increase in any way the Rx market, it
is simply taking advantage of a shift from "sedating" antihistamines,
to "non-sedating" antihistamines, and thus can increase its market
share faster than the Rx market as a whole. |
