Please assist with the research by at least mentioning the first name
(what does the "C" in "C. K." stand for?) of the decedent. Please
also explain the reason for your inquiry--are you a potential
beneficiary or possibly related to someone who might be a beneficiary?

Hello modge,

Please note that 4keith-ga is not a Researcher for Google Answers.
(If you click on a Researcher's name, you will be able to see the
Researcher's ratings; otherwise, the person is not a Researcher.) If
you do not feel comfortable responding to 4keith-ga's comment, you
might want to wait until a Researcher asks you a question that you
feel comfortable with (or answers your question without a request for
additional information from you).

The only reason that I asked for more information is to be able to
confirm exactly that the information I provide is accurate and based
on reliable information, since sometimes the requestors may have erred
either in the place or date of death, even the spelling of the
decedent's name. There is no one with the name C. K. NADIN listed on
the Social Security Death Index.

In any case, Newport Beach is located in Orange County, and the phone
number for probate information in Orange County is PROBATE RECORDS,
(714-935-6061), GENERAL INFORMATION, (714-935-8043). If the person
you were referring to was CORA K. NADIN, the death index shows she
died in May 2001 at age 87 in Cerritos, CA (LOS ANGELES COUNTY). The
number for checking LOS ANGELES COUNTY PROBATE RECORDS is (213)
974-5175.

Hmm--perhaps I should be a Google researcher since I found the correct
information, but it seems like Google is not really looking for any
additional researchers. Why has no one there found the answer to this
easy question? Apparently it is okay for other Google researchers to
ask follow-up questions when they want clarification!!!!

Actually, the question is a bit more complicated than it appears. Even
if a probate inventory has been filed for this decedent's estate in
Orange County or Los Angeles County, there is no reason at all to
believe that the figure on that inventory would represent the
approximate value of the estate.

Assets held in living trusts, joint accounts, pay-on-death accounts,
and life insurance policies are not included on California probate
inventories. As such, a person could leave a multimillion dollar
estate but have a probate inventory showing virtually nothing.

As I believe has been pointed out before, the unfortunate habit of
requesting that the customer supply personal information or
motivations ("Please also explain the reason...") is intrusive, and in
most cases isn't germane to the question. Whatever Google Answers'
current policy in hiring researchers, a researcher who persisted in
asking such questions would likely have a short, unhappy career with
GA.
