Hi,
I'm not a doctor, but it sounds as if you suffer from an allergy to
Latex.
This site suggests taking the elastic off the cannula

I'm not sure what good that will do, but it seems to be repeated on
several sites.

OXYGEN MASKS by SalterLabs
These Masks are made of a soft clear plastic, are Latex FREE and are
anatomically formed for comfort.

The OxyArm is also latex free and eliminates the cannula.
You are right - you're not the only one! My dad had the same problem.
Another thing he discovered was that they have little portable
canisters - not the one that you wheel around, but one small enough to
fit into a small case that you can carry over your shoulder - kind of
a knapsack.
He went bowling every week with his O2, flew on airplanes, took a
cruise... makes quite a difference in quality of life.
If you don't have it - talk to your provider and tell them you want
one. It is covered by insurance. They originally designed them for
kids with AIDS who needed to go to school and be kids while they were
on oxygen. My sister is a nurse who worked with those kids and made
sure my dad got that really portable type when he needed it.

This should help... it's stressful enough dealing with the need for
oxygen. You don't need allergies on top of it!
