Greetings Bluestreak. I searched the Library of Congress where info
on one of his books is present but, unfortunately, there was no birth
date attached to his record there. I'll continue trying. :)

Hi bluestreak. I looked in The Baseballers, a one-volume encyclopedia
of famous people in baseball history, and found a very brief bio of
Wolff. Unfortunately, his birth date is listed as "unknown." I do
know that he graduated PBK from Duke University and stopped announcing
baseball games sometime before 1966. But other than that, the entry
wasn't all that helpful. Sorry! librariankt

Thank you so much journalist & librariankt. Good to hear from you
journalist! It's my pleasure to meet you librariankt. Did you mean
"The Ballplayers" by Mike Shatzkin(1990) instead of the Baseballers?
Wolff's brief bio.(pp.1194) is very short on details. I hope you
don't give up. Bob Wolff is a famous name, and I'm sure his info is
out there somewhere. I've only been looking for baseball announcers
for 2 weeks. Stay with me, please! I sure need any help I can get.

From various newspaper articles, it looks like he was born in 1921 in
New York. That's about all I've found on Wolff. He definitely went to
Duke (graduated Phi Beta Kappa) and is a World War II vet, but that's
about all I've been able to turn up.

"...Bob Wolff, 72 going on 18, still revels in the fun and games..."

"Senators Are a Memory, but Their Voice Resonates," by Leonard
Shapiro. Washingon Post, April 2, 1993, p. C3.

The Wolff's were my next door neighbors when I was growing up. His
son Rick is a nationally known sports psychologist (He writes for
Sports Illustrated for Kids and is often in WFAN in the NY area).
Rick has a website for asking sports psychology questions, but I'm
sure that he wouldn't mind if you asked about his dad's birthday!!

Good Morning thegoose,
May I extend my warm greetings to you! I don't believe we
have met before. Thank you for your excellent information. I have
just entered my question to his son. Now we can await developments!
I hope we get lucky, as it says he doesn't answer all his questions.
He may get a lot of them. I am delighted that you are taking a shot
at one of my questions! Feel free to look over the entire collection.
I will work with anyone who tries to help me. The Google Answers
team of researchers are indeed the best that I've encountered and have
found tons of answers for me. And believe me, some of them are tough
and obscure. But as you are demonstrating, you guys are up to it! I
will surely contact you if we get a hit. Again, thank you so very
much for giving one of my questions your time! I hope we talk again
soon! bluestreak

bluestreak -
Did Rick get back to you? I'm not part of the Google answer team, I
just happened to be a random browser that knew something about your
question. Good Luck, and I'm glad I could help.

Hi thegoose,
No, Rick has not gotten back to me. His service states that
not all questions are read or addressed. So I don't know if Rick ever
saw my question. If you have any ideas that I might pursue, I'm ready
to try. bluestreak
