I am looking for an article that I have been told appeared in the
Sydney Morning Herald (Australian newspaper) "late last year". I don't
know exactly when, I don't know the title, but the article was about
child/adolescent/teenage abuse of parents. I don't know how far it
went in discussing it but it could have mentioned physical violence,
emotional abuse, psychological abuse - or any other type. I'm not sure
if it was in the main paper or in one of it's magazines or feature
supplements. I have searched the net, the SMH site, my State library
archives - but cannot find it. I hope someone can find it for me.

If it is, I'll post it as answer and collect the fee. Just let me know. :)

Thanks for your reply but no this is not the article. This is about
parents abusing children. The article I need is about children abusing
parents, usually teenagers or adolescents, who are controlling their
parents through intimidation, threats, violence etc. Because my source
said it appeared late last year, I assume that is probably from July
or August onwards. I think I'm just using the wrong keywords to search
and I don't know all the tricks of the trade for searching. Hope you
can find it.

Thank you to justaskscott-ga for finding the article in the Sydney
Morning Herald and for the link. That is fantastic, I'm so pleased
because I really needed this for research purposes.

Also, thank you to kermi-ga for his/her second comment having found it
also in The Age.

I remember this article, it was probably titled something like "Parent
abuse", it appeared in the 'Good Weekend' magazine just before the
summer holiday season. Because it appeared in the GW mag., it is hard
to find/index.

Yes, I agree, but I think it was further back than that.

The article appeared in the Good Weekend mag. which accompanied The
(Melbourne) Age, Nov. 16, 2002. It was titled "Enough is enough",
pages 20-26. But the cover title and picture is 'Can tough love tame
teenage monsters?'

Here is the front page of The Sydney Morning Herald for November 16,
2002; the article is mentioned in the top left corner.

Unfortunately, the content of this article does not appear to be

Good Weekend articles are not available online apparently, but I
remember this one very well because I clipped it out for a friend who
needs help in this area. I'm pretty sure it was some time in November
2003. The article was about a parent self help group called "Tough
Love" and they have recently started up in Melbourne and are well
established in Sydney (not sure about the rest of the country). This
is their US website but I was able to obtain an Australian contact by
emailing them. If you contact the local people, you'll find they're
very willing to help and they'd probably be able to help you with a
copy of the article. Here's the site. http://www.toughlove.org/
