Question ID: 159864
Where can I get low cost color portable display modules?
Size should be 2.5" to 3.5" diagonal.
Must be low power LCD or OLED Color Graphic Display Modules
capable of 15 frames per second at 360 x 240 pixels.
Digital interface like a PDA uses.
For an order of 250,000 they should be $15 each or less including support circuitry.

Hi -

I'm in contact with a potential source right now, and am waiting to
hear back from them on a quote. I need to get a little more
information from you. Will these modules be doing graphics and text?
What kind of support circuitry are you looking at?

Thanks,

My source says they're pretty sure they can do that price, but I will
know for sure tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for your patience.

Graphics, no text. Really trying to avoid "monitors" with NTSC
inputs, yet get the low cost high speed LCD's that work with them, as
in the cheap RCA CSTN TV's.
A TFT at that price would be lovely.
Interface details... we have this part, can add more parts if it will
bring the unit cost down.

The 2.5" looks about right- the power consumption is a bit high.

The interface is analog RGB... is this OK?

Clarification of Question by bigman2000-ga on 14 Feb 2003 15:10 PST
RGB is not preferred, but if adding a RGB driver chip still brings it
under the price that is OK.

Hi -

Thanks for your patience. Unfortunately, I don't think $15 is going
to do it. I've talked to 2 different companies, one who specifically
outsources to cheaper labor in Taiwan, and it doesn't look that price
is realistic. Is $15 your absolute limit? What you're asking for is
typically twice that amount. Let me know what you want to do.

Thanks,
