Greetings Researchers! I am looking for a poster-sized piece of material from a circus tent to put in a frame and hang up on the wall. This piece should contain all or part of a letter found in CIRCUS, BARNUM&BALIEY, etc. I suppose it doesn't have to be canvas, but I would just immagine that's what they would make the circus tents out of. A legitimate piece (i.e., not a replica) would certainly be ideal. Thanks, and good luck helping me! Alex | |

Real pieces of circus tent (especially recognizable lettered or logoed pieces) are quite valuable to collectors, enthusiants and circus people. You want a piece of tent because it would look cool on your wall. They want a piece of the tent where their grandparents worked the act together for 15 years. The circus itself will often hang on to the lettered and/or logoed pieces. Ringling would be especially difficult, because they stopped going out under canvas in this country years ago. I found a number of circus posters and other memorabilia, but not replicas of tent pieces. You might try contacting Circus Fans of America. This is a great group of people who frequent the back lots of circuses, providing snacks, support and pictures to the crews. They may be able to direct you to a circus memorablia dealer with tent pieces, although this is quite unusual. Circus Fans of America http://www.circusfans.org/ - Hammer |
