Greetings Researchers!

I am looking for a poster-sized piece of material from a circus tent
to put in a frame and hang up on the wall. This piece should contain
all or part of a letter found in CIRCUS, BARNUM&BALIEY, etc. I
suppose it doesn't have to be canvas, but I would just immagine that's
what they would make the circus tents out of. A legitimate piece
(i.e., not a replica) would certainly be ideal.

Thanks, and good luck helping me!
Alex

What is your price range for an authentic piece of a circus tent?
Also, while older tents are canvas, modern circus tents are made of a
PVC material. Are you interested in the modern material, or only the
older canvas tent material?

I have no idea how much something like this would be cost, so I'm kind
of interested in seeing the ranges. If there are replica pieces for
inexpensive, and real pieces for ultraexpensive, it would be great to
know that.

Canvas certainly would be great, just because it looks so cool,
especially all worn out and what not. But if that's impossible to
find, I understand.

The goal is for the piece of the tent to be recognizable as a tent
piece, if that makes any sense.

Thanks, good luck~!

Real pieces of circus tent (especially recognizable lettered or logoed
pieces) are quite valuable to collectors, enthusiants and circus
people. You want a piece of tent because it would look cool on your
wall. They want a piece of the tent where their grandparents worked
the act together for 15 years. The circus itself will often hang on to
the lettered and/or logoed pieces. Ringling would be especially
difficult, because they stopped going out under canvas in this country
years ago.

I found a number of circus posters and other memorabilia, but not
replicas of tent pieces.

You might try contacting Circus Fans of America. This is a great group
of people who frequent the back lots of circuses, providing snacks,
support and pictures to the crews. They may be able to direct you to a
circus memorablia dealer with tent pieces, although this is quite
unusual.
