I need quarterly data going back as far as possible. (Last 10 to 20
years are most important) I need it this afternoon or evening, if
possible. Information you find out later won't do as much good.

That is helpful. I was looking for units and interested in new car
sales. (or production) Any chance you could get more data, either
going back farther in time or expanding scope of question to
worldwide? All or any of these would be more helpful. Thanks.

Hello again,

I have located the following information:

- New Retail Automobile Sales in the United States, for 1970, for 1975
and for the years 1980-2001. This is total yearly sales in
units.(Table in Excel)

- A table of World Vehicle Sales in units for 1960, 1980 and 2000 by
region.
(North America, Central and South America, Asia, Oceania and Africa).
New Car & Light Duty Truck Sales
(yearly sales)

- a graph of U.S. New Car & Light Duty Truck Sales in Units for the
years 1956, 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996
and 2000. (yearly sales)

Thanks

Thanks for the hard work.
I see your dilemna. My first priority is that all of the data be
internally consistent for whatever series chosen. Either sales or
production numbers are acceptable. My second priority is that it be
quarterly and be up to date and go back in time as far as possible.
My third priority that it be units rather than dollars. Fouth, I
would prefer domestic data.

Dear infopros-ga:

I waited until the last minute to give the researcher time to produce
something of value to and decided to post because it started getting
late in your deadline. Unfortunatley, the best I could do on such
short notice is this document:

AUTOMOBILE SALES IN PERSPECTIVE
http://research.stlouisfed.org/publications/review/76/06/Automobile_Jun1976.pdf
(See graphs on page six)

One represents quarterly sales by year, and a second graph is
indicative of sales by unit. This includes all new vehicles donestic
and import but only ranges from 1955-1976.

It was furnished by:
WARDSAUTO.COM
http://www.wardsauto.com/

Access to their data requires a membership of some sort. If you hustle
over there and sign up you might make your deadline.

Regards;

Getting the data directly from Wards is too expensive. I didn't
realize you were waiting for me to clarify question. Still urgently
need data, any data, that is from the present moving back in time.
Does it not help if you are looking for production rather than sales?
