Are you using Windows, Mac, Linux or another operating system?
Are you using the Google Toolbar or a browser?
If it is a browser, which one, and which version?

Clearing the history on your browser is very easy, although the exact
procedure depends upon the browser that you're using.

If you're using Internet Explorer 5.x (Windows version), it's simply a
matter of going to the "Tools" menu at the top of the window,
selecting "Internet Options," and then pressing the "Clear History"
button (which is located near the bottom of the box). More information
is available at Microsoft's site:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q157729

If you'd like to see a screen-by-screen guide to clearing the history
with Internet Explorer, one is available on this web site:

This site offers similar history-clearing tips for both Internet
Explorer and the alternate procedure if you're using Netscape's
browser:

If you're concerned about security or otherwise "covering your
tracks," this site offers some tips for Internet Explorer and Netscape

Search terms used:
explorer tools options "clear history"

Addditional search terms used:
netscape edit preferences "clear history"

I hope this helps. Good luck.

I am using both Win98 using IE6 and NT w/IE5.5. When I to delete an
entry from the Google toolbar history it just sends it to the top of
the list. It won't allow me to right click and delete or just delete
an entry without rentering it on the top of the list.

Clearing the IE history seems to have no effect.

Is there a file that hold's these results that I could delete and
Google would recreate the next time I use it?

Greg

As gambo-ga mentions below, the Google toolbar has its own "clear
search" history function. See Google's intructions for the toolbar:

If you're refering to the drop-down list from the search box, you can
just click the entries individually and delete them.

If you're referring to the Google toolbar, you can click the Google
button, the click Clear Search History.

I've found that I can highlight an item in the drop-down box WITHOUT
clicking on it, and then press my keyboard's "delete" key.

It appears they may be some version differences. You can read about
some of the changes at the Google toolbar help pages:

http://toolbar.google.com/help.html

The revision history is described under "version information"

Greg's experience seems to correspond to how my toolbar works (the
current version is 1.1.55).

In addition to the "Clear Search History" option suggested by gambo,
you can also customize the behavior using "toolbar options" (click on
the "Google" box to the left of the search term window to find both
features). You can choose to disable the history feature altogether or
you can cause it not to preserve history across browser sessions.

Among these various options, you should find one which fits your needs
and preferences!

Hi oien-ga,

I think what you are needing is to clear the autocomplete for Forms:
(ie: when you double click into the google search form it pops up lots
of previous searches)

This can be done by going to Tools -> Internet Options -> Content ->
AutoComplete -> Untick Forms if you dont want IE to remember what you
type in forms and also click "Clear Forms".

Hope this helps.

Good luck!
