Dear goodgoin,

Could you please be more specific? To answer your question, a
Researcher needs to know:

- to what country your question relates

- what kind of cars you have in mind (sedans, station wagons,
trucks...)

- what countries of origin these cars should have

Regards,
Scriptor

Hello.

A U.S. government document called "2003 Model Year Vehicles" lists the
transmissions for all vehicles sold in the U.S. market.
Source: Fueleconomy.gov
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/FEG2003_GasolineVehicles.pdf

(The document is in PDF format, so the Adobe Acrobat Reader is
required. If you don't have that, visit:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html )

To check whether a particular car or truck comes with a manual
transmission, simply locate the vehicle on the list and then check the
first column ("Trans Type / Speeds").

Vehicles with a manual transmission will have "M-5" or "M-6" in the
first column. "M-5" and "M-6" are true manual transmissions. Automatic
tranmissions are indicated with an "A" while the hybrid transmissions
are indicated with an "AS" (special automatic).

search strategy: 2003 "model year" vehicles, "fuel economy"

I hope this helps.
