We want to start a matrimonial and a dating site.  Can someone tell us
how to get legal data initially to start the site.  Tips to promote
the site will be highly appreciated.

Please explain in greater detail exactly what kind of data you are
seeking, and if your budget allows for fee based information (and if
so, how much are you willing to pay) or is it just free data you are
looking for?

Keep in mind in making your decision that some free data may not be as
accurate as fee based data.

Thanks for responding.

Frankly we are on a shoe string budget right now. It really depends on
how much I will have to pay to get a fee based data. We have no idea
how much the data would cost. If the source is genuine we will have to
make a provision to buy some initial data.

In a nutshell, would you be kind enough to guide us, so that we could
buy the data and tell us about sources that could provide with free
data too.

Tips to promote the site would also be highly appreciated.

As we said we want to create a Matrimonial and a Dating site.

For Dating Site we are looking for the candidate data with their
names, addresses, contact info, photos and general information that
would be required for a dating site. We would like the candidates to
know that they are listed on the sites and should be able to contact
them. We would be offering our initial members a free full fledged
membership for a period of 180 Days, and give substantial discounts
once they decide to become a paid member.

Our apprehension is simple, the data that appears on our site should
not be questionable by the members or the original owners of the
database. In short we do not want to be sitting ducks for any legal
action.

We want to create a site that people can beleive in.

Does this mean you want to find personal details of individuals, put
them up on your site, and THEN tell them?  This is setting yourself up
to be sued!

I suggest the only practical way is for you to advertise your proposed
site widely through bulletin boards, mailing lists and also local
media in the geographical areas you wish to target and ask people to
register if they wish to do so.

One further thought: many people would not register if their full name
and address would be visible on the site.
