Hi mamadoc, Both Hunter and Rainbird products are excellent and you can't go wrong with either. However, it isn't a matter of which is better really, as most lawn irrigation contractors use the best parts from each. Bob Vila's How To: Choosing a Sprinkler System for Your Lawn: "Most contractors don't use only one supplier, but might buy the controller from Rainbird, the pop-up heads from Hunter and the valves from Weathermatic. http://www.bobvila.com/HowTo/index.html?/HowTo/IHouse/YardGarden/SprinklerSystems.html From Fox Valley Irrigation Guide: Eagle Tough® Turf Pipes Hunter® sprinkler RainBird® valves and controllers Mini-Clik® II sensor http://www.foxvalleyirrigation.com/installation_guide.htm Garden Web: Which sprinkler system to choose???? http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/water/msg1009532915924.html Bayside Landscape: Basic Terms & Definitions: http://www.baysidelandscape.com/Lawn_Sprinklers/terms.htm Site Planning: http://www.chps.net/manual/documents/2002_updates/SitePlan.pdf Sprinkler Super Store: http://www.sprinklersuperstore.com/ I hope this helps - if you have any questions or if your request hasn't been satisfied, please post a clarification before rating my answer. By clicking on my search link below and browsing all of the sprinkler sites, you will get a pretty good idea of which manufacturers of the various parts are chosen by the many lawn contractors. The Hunter sprinkler and the Rainbird controller seem to be very popular choices. Wishing you a weed-free green lawn! You might want to look at a new system for watering lawns. "Each AccuRain Watering Head is a "Super" sprinkler, doing the work of many sprinkler heads or drippers. With a few button pushes, you just point the stream of water where you want it, tell it how much and how often and AccuRain does the rest. Changing the system again is as easy as pushing a button." One head can handle 2800 sqft and can give different amounts of water to the lawn, trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetables. www.accurain.com |
