For an artistic interactive project, I would like to build/buy a low
cost system (under 500$) that would be able to detect 2D movement
(x,y) of 2-8 distinctive people in a room of about 4x4 meters and send
a real-time (or close to real-time) measurement back to a PC. Any of
the following would be a great help:
- a link to a low cost commercial solution that is capable of all the
above. I know about some expensive ones, but I can't afford them...
or
- general instructions on how to build such system (what components to
buy, how it should be constructed, etc.). Plese direct your
intructions for someone who is not an expert in this area...
or
- letting me know that it's absolutly not possible to achieve my goal.
If this is the case please explain the reasons.

Interesting project...I hope you can pull it off.

I'm scouting around for info, and will certainly get back to you if I
unearth anything useful. In the mean time, though, you say that
you've already looked into some commercial solutions that were just
too expensive. Can you let us know what you looked at, and rejected,
so we don't go over the same ground.

Thanks.
