A couple of years ago I used an on-line utility called 'Zaplet'. They
have been purchased and the new owners have unfortunately stopped
offering their services.
The Zaplet utility was excellent for small committees, groups, etc., and
didn't require shared calendars, etc. Zaplet allowed me to set up an
invitation for a meeting, complete with a short list of dates and
times that were possible. This 'invitation' would be sent to my
selected email recipients. The recipients on the list would see my
invitation, see the dates that were available, see the date and time
from my list that other invitees had selected, and then they would select a time
and date that they could attend. When a recipient responded, the admin
[me] would get an email notice so that I could check out the status of
responses. Very slick. Also designed for a variety of low, mid and
high experienced Internet users.
I've looked high and low for something as simple and comparable. Any
ideas?

Id already checked out ScheduleOnline [and a bunch of others] and it's
similar to many other calendar programs.
Zaplet had a sole purpose of pursuing collaboration, and didn't
replace my Palm or regular calendar program [in fact, there was no
connection at all!]

Hello Steve,
I'm not sure what the deal is here, but Zaplet still seems to offer
exactly the software you are looking for, at their site:
www.zaplet.com
The call it appmail, or "collaborative email", and it looks like it
does exactly what you would like it to do.
Is this what you're looking for?

I have been to the Zaplet site before and didn't see an app that does
the collaboration thing you're talking about. They appear to be
selling the backend development of this solution, not an available app
for small business, etc. I'm not a code writer or a business that
would fund this sort of thing, so I'm at a loss.

steve1952...
Here's one to check out. You have to actually sign in to see
all the features, but the basic service is free. Let me know
if this works for your purposes:
"EZ Event Planner is an online Internet application for you to
plan the details of any event except a wedding*. You can plan
any event complete with people, sub-events, budget, to-do's,
vendors, locations. And you can generate a slew of helpful
reports and automatic email reminders. It's ready to go
right here, right now."
"Benefits: Lower phone, meeting time. Everyone is up to speed
at the same time. Find bottlenecks. Assign and monitor
responsibility in real time."
"The eventplanner program can be accessed from anywhere in the
world via Internet using your secret code and password. We
maintain your data (with complete privacy, of course) and
back it up every day for safety."
"EZEP keeps track of all the things that go into a business
or personal event: people, places, money, to-do's, happenings
and companies (or vendors). You enter the data, we store it
on our servers (privately), and give you a selection of
reports based on your inputs. Your data is backed up each day.
"In addition, you can opt for email reminders to go to you or
others responsible for things to do. You can set up multiple
events and the data you have entered on other things are
available to you to select. For example, if you have meetings
which include a core of the same people, you can import them
into the newly created one."
"The basic level is free. The more complex it gets (more people,
sub-events, locations, etc) there are annual fees for use of the
program."
