It is also featured on this website which describes it as:
"Percy Wenrich (M) and Stanley Murphy (L) - 1909: Sometimes less is
more and simple is most appealing. This is one of those cases. It is a
very simple premise - a couple remembering their fiftieth wedding
anniversary by taking a ride back over the fields of their youth. When
I perform this with the verses, I have made several older members of
my audience well up with tears, which also happens to me. Wenrich just
had a way with melodies, and this was one of his finest. The beautiful
cover also compliments the song nicely. Note that the spelling of
"grey" used here is noted in the dictionary as a "variation of gray",
so either is correct."

The lyrics to the music are:
"PUT ON YOUR OLD GREY BONNET 1909
Words by Stanley Murphy Music by Percy Wenrich
Verse 1
ON THE OLD FARM HOUSE VE-RAN-DA
THERE SAT SI-LAS AND MI-RAN-DA,
THINK-ING OF THE DAYS GONE BY.
SAID HE "DEAR-IE DON'T BE WEA-RY,
YOU WERE AL-WAYS BRIGHT AND CHEER-Y,
BUT A TEAR, DEAR, DIMS YOUR EYE."
SAID SHE "THEY'RE TEARS OF GLAD-NESS
SI-LAS THEY'RE NOT TEARS OF SAD-NESS,
IT IS FIF-TY YEARS TO-DAY SINCE WE WERE WED."
THEN THE OLD MAN'S DIM EYES BRIGHT-EN'D,
AND HIS STERN OLD HEART IT LIGH-EN'D,
AS HE TURN'D TO HER AND SAID;
Verse 2
IT WAS IN THE SAME OLD BON-NET
WITH THE SAME BLUE BIB-BON ON IT,
IN THE OLD SHAY, BY HIS SIDE.
THAT HE DROVE HER UP TO DO-VER
THRO' THE SAME OLD FIELDS OF CLO-VER,
TO BE-COME HIS HAP-PY BRIDE.
THE BIRDS WERE SWEET-LY SING-ING
AND THE SAME OLD BELLS WERE RING-ING,
AS THEY PASS'D THE QUAINT OLD CHURCH WHERE THEY WERE WED.
AND THAT NIGHT WHEN STARS WERE GLEAM-ING,
THE OLD COU-PLE LAY A DREAM-ING
DREAM-ING OF THE WORDS HE SAID;
Chorus
PUT ON YOUR OLD GREY BON-NET WITH THE BLUE RIB-BON ON IT,
WHILE I HITCH OLD DOB-BIN TO THE SHAY,
AND THROUGH THE FIELDS OF CLO-VER, WE'LL DRIVE UP TO DO-VER
ON OUR GOLD-EN WED-DING DAY"
