Dear becky2000-ga
I could only find one reference to this.
During an interview with Doug Elkins, dance choreographer, he made the
following reply to a question "To paraphrase Yvonne Rainer, 'one of
the most difficult things to learn to ignore are other peoples'
explanations of who you are.' "

This paraphrase is almost identical to your quote. The original may
have been more complex. However, I cannot find her original statement.
Yvonne Rainer is a dancer and avant-garde filmmaker.
