Your keywords seem strong but you have used the word "remodeling" too
heavily - over 70 times. Also, the word "realtor" is used too often.
Usually, three times in the keywords is plenty. For instance, you can
simply re-enter the keywords to look like this:

Remodeling Marin County Real Estate, Construction, Addtions, Bath
rooms, Kitchens, Design, House raising, Carpentry, Remodeling Homes,
Remodeling Properties, Remodeling for Real Estate Agents, sales, buyer
broker, buyers agent, multiple listing service, condo, condo
conversion, townhouse, 1031 tax exchange, prequalification, mortgage
loans, home locator, investment homes, investment properties,
relocation specialist, residential, estate remodeling, houses,
remodeling homes, multi-million dollar estate homes, foreclosure, reo,
repo, bank repo, short sales, fixer, property, buy, buyers,
condominiums, townhomes, single family residence, view homes, duplex,
duplexes, split levels, ranch style, single story homes, two story
homes, RV access, pool homes, golf course view, ocean view homes, city
lights view, nice neighborhood

And you might add "sunrooms, poolrooms, basements" and other rooms in
a home. Also, include landscaping if your company offers the service.

Then, on your page, your keyword text is in graphic form which a
search engine spider cannot read - it reads the text, not the picture.
You are on the first page of "Marin Remodeling" search results but not
with your site address: see
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=marin+remodeling

You need to use a mouseover text box with your graphics with the same
word in in the box or write a short text paragraph that includes your
major keywords. A search engine spider may see all the keywords in
the code but then doesn't see them on the page itself and ignores the
page in the crawl.

Also, your header on the page looks like this in my browser:

Marin Remodelin
       g

I will do further experimentation with the site and query to
webmasters I know to glean their suggestions, too. In the meantime,
the site at http://www.mimech.com/web-search/ is a great place to
understand site optimization. Their optimization tips are located at

I appreciate your patience in waiting until all information is
collected from emails before rating my answer.

I have received replies from my emails and I wanted to impart the
information and give you some other links to peruse. The article at
http://216.239.51.100/search?q=cache:VlkU5OekNyoC:tstweb.ecob.iup.edu/Fall%25202002/Student%2520Research%2520Papers/web%2520design%2520research%2520paper.doc+%22keyword+stuffing%22+google+%22invisible+keywords%22&hl=en&ie=UTF-8
explains well the manner in which one may optimize their website.

One of the bits of info there states "Google uses multiple spiders in
order to speed up the process of locating its search words. The two
main things that the Google spiders note on a web page are the words
within the page and where the words are located on the page. They are
built to index every significant word on a page." Also written there
is "Some search engines such as Google ignore the Meta description and
create their own description of the page, while other search engines
will only support part of the description and draw the remaining
information from the body copy of the page. An easy way create a Meta
description tag would be to take the first sentence or two of the page
and make that the Meta description content."

Google PageRank is explained at ://www.google.com/technology/ and
WebWorkshop gives their own explanation of Google PageRank and how
they feel one can make the most of it at
http://webworkshop.net/pagerank.html

Invisible keywords (which I caution you to stay away from) are
discussed at http://www.mikenew.net/articles/display_article.asp?news_id=66
and http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/search_engines/8794 - however,
some webmasters choose to place a visible line of text at the top of a
site page such as on the site http://www.dantescafe.com/ - at the top,
you will see a line of words in text that summarize the contents of
the site. This could also be a phrase in your case that would read
something like "Marin Remodeling offers the finest in home and office
remodeling in the San Francisco area."

The more stickiness you have on your main page with links and
topic-related text, the more likely it is that your URL will be in the
first page of results on a search engine. You also made a good choice
by picking "MarinRemodeling" as you URL name because it reflects
exactly who you are.

You might also consider purchasing an additional site name that
reflects "San Francisco remodeling" in some way and then create a site
for that name. On that site you would include many links to
MarinRemodeling.com - don't create a mirror site, simply create a
sister site.

Also, go to the Open Directory Project at http://dmoz.org/ and submit
your site there. I searched there for your site and found this
message "Search: Marin Remodeling - No Open Directory Project results
found" - the text at http://dmoz.org/add.html will explain to you how
to add your link and why you should: "If your site has been accepted
into the Open Directory, it may take anywhere from 2 weeks to several
months for your site to be listed on partner sites which use the Open
Directory data, such as AOL Search, DirectHit, HotBot, Google, Lycos,
Netscape Search, etc. We make updates of the data available weekly,
but each partner has their own update schedule."

Other keyword suggestions to add would be "bay area" and "san
francisco" and "california". To learn about how to best utilize
keywords, please visit
http://www.search-engine-optimization.ecommercehosts.com/keywords_b.htm
and see the many links at http://www.weblens.org/optimize.html
(Keyword Frequency Analyzers are located under that heading about
midway down the page).

Should you have any questions or require further explanation of the
information I have provided, please request a clarification.

PS Regarding submission of your site by a Google Answers Researcher

Google Answers Researchers are independent contractors as opposed to
Google corporation employees. We are also bound by our Terms of
Service not to divulge our personal information to customers nor
should customers give out personal information in their questions,
which you would need to do to have a Researcher submit your site.

The best way for you to begin is to personally submit your site to the
Open Directory Project by visiting http://dmoz.org/add.html. Then go
to http://dmoz.org/ and choose the link at the upper right of the page
that says "Add URL" - this will allow you to drill down through the
categories to find exactly where your site should be listed.

Also, visit JimWorld at http://jimworld.com/promoteb.html if you wish
to submit to more search engines. JimWorld shows a list of the major
players with a link to each site. Look for a "Submit a site" or
"Submit a URL" (usually towards the bottom of each site) and proceed
from there. And definitely submit to DMOZ.

I've heard from another colleague who echoed most of the info I have
suggested above and she added that you may have too many javascripts
on the page, and there was nothing for the search engines to index
except javascript code and pictures. She wrote "The rule one
keyword=one page is good. MAX of five or six. If the word isn't on the
page somewhere, it doesn't belong in the keyword tag."

Her suggestion was that you go after keywords with less searches.
"They haven't got a chance of ranking on a term that gets 1,062,408
searches...they'd be much more likely to rank on a term like 'bathroom
remodeling' which gets 27,595 searches if they had a paragraph
discussing bathroom remodeling, that is. Of course, they'd need some
text on the page discussing that subject. Content is king."

She also agreed that you need more related links on the site. She
stated "Link popularity is ultra important these days, they need at
least 20 links from related but not competing companies."

I hope this additional information brings more clarity to your
situation.
