Hi philk-ga!
I enjoyed researching your question because I have owned retired
racing greyhounds in the past. I have never bet on greyhounds, but
have seen taped races of my dogs and have dabbled in betting
quarter-horses in the past. Handicapping is very subjective, there is
no magic wand to tell you what dog is going to win, everyone thinks
they have the best system. I recommend downloading and trying out a
few of the Free Demo's available, starting with "The Racing
Consultant."
One thing to remember is that nearly all handicappers don't feel the
need to bet ALL races at a track on a given day. You'll need to do a
lot of research and get to know the dogs. Once you find specific dogs
you like, you can follow them and bet races that they are virtually
sure to win, based on the other dogs they are racing against. You need
to learn to look at the dogs in a given race and bet only those races
where you recognize a dog that will stand out from the crowd.
Next is dog selection in a given race. There are many factors, such
as:
1) Early Speed
2) Late Speed
3) Class
4) Potential Speed
5) Form
There are other considerations, similiar to those in horseracing that
are a factor as well. The link just below this paragraph describes
them well:

Besides all the above, keep in mind that this is gambling, and by
definition, the money you use for this passtime should be disposable.
Don't bet the house payment, ...remember: greyhounds are not
purchased, and the race tracks are not... "built on winners!"
