I'm trying to compare the hourly pay received by programmers in the
following categories:
1) American citizens programming in the US
2) non-citizens programming in the US, especially those here on H1B
visas
3) Indian programmers working in India
4) Chinese programmers working in China
Can you find me estimates for how the pay compares for these different
categories of programmers?

Most of this question has already been answered (see the comment), so
all you have to do is compare the wages of US citizen programmers to
the wages of programmers working in the US on H1-B visas.

Hi,

Haven't been able to find all your information but this may help:

1) $24 an hour for "Software Engineer / Developer / Programmer" or $22
an hour for "IT - Computer, Software"
Or alternatively:
Average salary of $78,687 in January 2003
(http://www.sysprog.net/salary.html)
2) ??
3) Average salary of $5,850 a year in September 2002
(http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/stories/2002/09/09/story2.html)
4) Average salary of $4,750 a year in September
2002(http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/stories/2002/09/09/story2.html)

Hope that helps,

Steve
