Question ID: 163511
How many local retail stores are there in the United States that sell
fresh seafood (excluding supermarkets, grocery chains, mass
merchandisers, etc.) I am interested only in the local shop that may
also sell meats, not the national grocery food chains .

Hello themothershucker-ga,

I located number of establishments for the Fish and Seafood Markets
from the Retail Trade - 1997 U.S. Economic Census.

“This industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in retailing
fresh, frozen, or cured fish and seafood products.”

Would this be the information suit your needs as I was not able to
locate more up to date figures.

Thanks

Bobbie7-ga

The Economic Census profiles the US economy every 5 years and the data
for 2002 is not yet available.

I have to agree with bobbie7 on this one. You will have to settle for
that source since it is the official and most reliable one at the
moment.

There must be associations for these retailers. There must be
conventions. There simply must be another way to get a real number
(within ten to fifteen %).
