when I was a child in Ontario in the 50s, my parents had a spanking
paddle hung on a leather thong.  it was annotated with cartoons and
with a rhyming poem.  It was hardwood with many layers of laquer.  I
want to know what it was, what the poem was, and what the cartoons
looked like.  There was one snippet about spanking your naughty wife, I remember.

That is not completely a wrong paddle.  This one was more playful,
rectangular, had a fairly long rhyming poem about what to use it for
and a small cartoon to illustrate each couplet of the poem.  There
were almost certainly couplets about spanking your children, your
wife, and possibly your pets?  I need this information for a piece of
fiction I am writing so any help would be appreciated.
