In 1990 I was in Los Alamos, New Mexico and discovered a small,
apparently family run restaurant that made the world's GREATEST
coconut creme pie. Ten years later I returned to Los Alamos and
immediately headed for the same location. The area had changed totally
and I could find no trace of the former business. If my memory is
correct, it was located on the south side of Trinity Drive, a little
west of the Los Alamos Inn.

I'd like to know the name of the restaurant and how I can contact the
people who owned or ran it. With that kind of talent, I suspect
they're still in the food service business, possibly in the same area.
My objective, of course, is to ask for their coconut creme pie recipe.
I can still taste it, twelve years later.

Any idea what the name was? Some approximation of it would be helpful!

I'm banking on the fact that this is the place:

HILL DINER
1315 TRINITY DR
LOS ALAMOS, NM 87544-3217
505-662-9745

It is famous for its cream pies - and it fits your other criteria.

This woman is/ was a part owner of the restaurant - so if you contact
her you should be able to track down the information you need. Even if
this isn't the place your looking for, she is obviously active in the
area, and will likely have some information.

The answer provided the name and email address of the owner of a
current Los Alamos restaurant that has a good reputation for creme
pies. I emailed that person and got a brief response. Since the name
doesn't sound familiar and the current location doesn't exactly match
my memory, I'm still not sure if it's the same place. While I'm a bit
unsatisfied, I can't give less that a four-star rating to an good
effort on a $5.00 question.

There was a place called "Hot Shots" on Trinity Drive
in the 90s. It was in a building that was
built by a Taco Bell franchise which folded.
I believe the owners of the Hill Diner ran
Hot Shots. Therefore, it is quite likely that
you can get the cream pie you crave at the Hill
diner.
